Money money money!

If getting ahead financially is one of your new years resolutions then stay tuned this week.  I’m no financial expert but I do know that the more you educate yourself the better you are able to make good financial decisions for your situation.  Here are some of the people that I listen to:

Scott Pape, The Barefoot Investor.
A good starting point for anyone without a financial education is Scott’s book ‘The Barefoot Investor’ because he breaks everything down to an understandable language .  Even those with a formal education will get something out of  reading this book because it makes you think about the small improvements you can make rather than just the big picture of investing.  I also subscribe to the free weekly newsletter.

Dr. Shane Oliver, Oliver’s Insights.

Dr. Shane Oliver is the Head of Investment Strategy and Chief Economist at AMP Capital.  I’ll admit that I don’t read the finance section or The Financial Review on a regular basis but I do read the monthly economic updates produced by AMP Capital, which provide:

“a review and outlook of the Australian and global economy, a review and outlook (both short term and medium term) for major investment markets, a summary of major indices on a monthly and rolling annual basis”.

Warren Buffet, CEO Berkshire Hathaway.

If you clicked on Warren Buffet’s name above you would have been taken to the Berkshire Hathaway website which is really basic.  Here is a blog that you may find more useful but I can’t be sure that it is sanctioned by Warren Buffet so use your own judgement.  I find that Scott Pape is fairly on the ball when it comes to reporting on Warren Buffet so I stick with the Barefoot Investor BUT if you see an article about Buffet then read it.  It is not by accident that he is one of the wealthiest people in the world!
